One of the things that we love about Studio D'Artisan is their commitment to traditional dying methods and that is wonderfully showcased on this limited MA-1 jacket.
SDA used persimmon dye that has been aged for 3+ years before it additionally has a 1 year storage process to remove any impurities. When the dyes are ready, the garments are dyed in a slow, hand done process. After each dip in the dye, the garment is to wrung out 2/3 times before line drying. This process is done 7-8 times per jacket to achieve this super unique color way. We find it truly special.
The MA-1 is a legendary flight jacket design developed by the US Air Force in the 1950s. It's shorter in the body to allow pilots to fit in the tighter cockpits of jets from the era. The exterior nylon is substantial but not restrictive and the interior is fully lined in a phenomenal rayon fabric for extreme comfort.
